With the approval of the Turkish Presidency, Gaziantep University is going to establish 3 more faculties in northern Syria to help Syrian youth in the liberated areas access higher education. Gaziantep University has already opened a vocational training school in Jarabulus back in October 2018.
According to the presidential decree logged in Turkey’s Official Gazette, the country is set to establish 3 more faculties in northern Syria under Gaziantep University’s Presidency. These faculties will be established in Al-Bab, Azaz, and Afrin.
Ali Gur, the rector of Gaziantep University said: "The faculties will each have 13 departments, and a capacity of 800 students. We would like well-educated persons with strong foundations to shape the future of Syria."
Following the 2011 Syrian uprising, Turkey has been providing all kinds of humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees in the country, treating every aspect of life from education to health with utmost care.
