The circular regarding the celebration of 2021 as the "Year of Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli" is issued by Erdogan

President Erdoğan issued a circular regarding the celebration of 2021 as the "Year of Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli".

In the circular published in the Official Gazette, Erdoğan reminded that the 750th anniversary of the passing of Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli, who has preached love, tolerance, unity, solidarity and peace for centuries with his thoughts and teachings, was included among the anniversaries of commemoration and celebration by UNESCO.

By refferring Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli’s own quotes such as "Let’s be one, be big and energetic", "Don’t hurt anyone, even though you’ve been hurt", "Whatever you’re searching for, search in yourself", "Clean where you’ve settled and deserve the money you’ve made", "Don't forget that even your enemy is a human" Erdoğan said that Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli is the one who invited humankind to peace and brotherhood.

Erdogan continued with the following statements:

"Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli's thoughts based on human love, tolerance and peace and affecting large masses have made significant contributions to the formation and maintenance of social identity and unity in Anatolia. In a wide geography from Anatolia to the Balkans, Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli’s thoughts continue to enlighten the path of the next generations, like the thinkers such as Yunus Emre and Mevlana. The life philosophies of those people based on heart, faith, morality, tolerance, love and respect, continue to play a central role today in the establishment of the understanding of unity and togetherness.

We have decided to organize events throughout the country and abroad in 2021, to understand and adopt his valuable ideas which call people to live together in brotherhood within the framework of respect and tolerance, to future generations"

Events will be held under the auspices of the Presidency

President Erdoğan expressed that the activities to be organized will be carried out with the relevant public institutions and organizations under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the activities to be determined by the Presidency can be held under the auspices of the Presidency.
